Vellu was born in December -05 in our 'Princess's litter. Hanna had already long time been waiting for a promising boy puppy, who could be shown in shows with some success and trained succesfully for an obedience dog. I was not allways completely sure, if everything would go so well, that this boy puppy would fullfill All the dreams..but this handsome and smart boy did! so we are very happy and proud of this young boy and looking much forward to see how far will Vellu go with Hanna in the future


Update 25.6.07: Vellu is now in Winner Class obedience and has started there really well,,,and it has not went that badly either in shwo ring, where Vellu has so far taken 7 CCs and 2 CACIBs!!!

Here is Hanna's own story about Vellu:

"Vellu was born one week before Christmas in the night between two big shows in Finland: Nordic Winner 2005 and Finnish Winner 2005! He was one of five puppies, there were two boys and three girls in this litter. Vellu developed to a very social and open minded springerboy, who loves everything and everybody around him. He did look quite nice from very beginning, though he did not look any stunning and super promising show-puppy at his first months, but suddenly at 5 months of age we noticed he has developed on a very lovely way and from that moment on his development has been as expected and he has grown to a handsome young man charming people around him.

It was meant from the very beginning that Vellu will attend to different kinds of hobbies, mainly shows and obedience. Obedience has become our main hobby, I started to train him when he was seven weeks and since that we have trained actively almost every day and Vellu seem to have natural talents to obedience. He learns things extremely fast and the best thing is that he is so willing to train that while training he does not see anything else. Already when he was six months old, people kept asking me how old Vellu was. They could not believe that a dog of that age – still a puppy – could concentrate to obedience with the kind of passion that Vellu did. I have always “had” to convince people that he really is as young dog as he is since it seems to be very hard for many people to believe. He has also been easy to motivate since he loves food and different kinds of toys. Nowadays he goes crazy already when he sees that I put my training jacket on, he knows that it is time to work and he sure loves that! I have got very positive feedback of Vellu from the top obedience people in Finland, like “you certainly have a pearl in your hands now”. That if anything is really nice to hear.

Vellu attended to his very first obedience test already when it was possible, at 10 months of age. He got super points and was placed in his class every time he got the first price. And at 11 months age he finished the new beginner’s class and got the TK 1 title. We are now looking forward to move further to upper classes and wait with excitement what future brings to us!

Vellu has also done a very nice job in the show ring. He won his first CC at his very first junior class show. Later on he has achieved another CC and nice best male-placements in many shows. The funny thing is that he is “mummy’s little shadow” everywhere else but not in shows. In shows the best person he knows is his breeder with who Vellu really shows his best in the ring!

Even though he is a very nice company in different hobbies, his most important task is to be our beloved pet with our other two dogs. Vellu is a lovely company when lying on the coach or walking in the forest. Whatever you do, he wants to attend. He is everything I have ever wished for – a really multi-purpose English springer that one can get only once in a lifetime!"
